Observations Week #5

The water level was 8.7 centimeters, it is .2 centimeters less than last week. The grass is 19.1 centimeters tall, it grew .1 centimeters. There is no new algae growth on the aquatic level. The water has the same turbidity as last week. There is more condensation this week on the top part of the bottle. Rambo the fish is still swimming a lot but he does look more skinny.

Bottle Biome Observations #4

Today 3/6, our water level is 8.9 centimeters. It has decreased from last week by .4 centimeters. There is a little algae growth on the rocks at the aquatic level of our bottle. The grass is about 19 centimeters tall, and it has grown by a centimeter. The water is cloudy, but it has not changed since last week. There is condensation present at the top of the bottle. Rambo the fish is thankfully still living and there is nothing different about his appearance or behavior.

Bottle Biome Observations Week 2

The water level is 9.1 centimeters. There is no algae at the bottom aquatic level. The plant grew 13 centimeters. The water is a little more cloudy and the water is a little brown from the soil in the top bottom. Transpiration occurred because the roots of the plant absorbed the water and used it to grow the plant. Rambo the fish survived and is swimming a lot! 🙂

Initial Observation – Building our Bottle Biome

Today I assembled the bottle biome. First, I cleaned out two old soda bottles and cut the top of one and the bottom of one. With the bottle that has the bottom part, I placed gravel and dechlorinated water in it. With the bottle with the top, I placed it inside the bottle the other bottle. In the top bottle, I put in soil with fertilizer. Additionally, I placed a cap with a hole in it on the top bottle and I inserted a string through it. The string’s purpose is to bring water to the soil. Hopefully, a plant will grow. I am also hoping to put a beta fish in the biome and see if it survives!
